Julia Broecher, 101, of Murdo, passed away December 19, 2017, at Avera Maryhouse in Pierre.
A Celebration of Julia’s homegoing was held Wednesday, December 27 at Community Bible Church in Murdo. Julia Lillian Broecher was born February 16, 1916, in Kimball, SD, to Thomas and Sophia (Kroupa) Lebeda.
As a young child, the family moved to a farm northwest of Murdo where she attended country school.
Julia enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker, but also did babysitting and sewing for her friends and family. She enjoyed taking care of her numerous house plants and spending a lot of time at the Senior Citizen’s Center and her exercise group.Julia lived independently until she was 100 before moving in with her daughter Jean.She is survived by her two daughters, Dona Kerwin of Milaca, MN and Karen (Gene) Huddleston of Ramona, SD; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Burial, with full military honors, will be Friday, Dec.Donald Wayne Cromwell, 86, of Draper, SD, passed away December 16, 2017 at Avera Maryhouse, Pierre. 22, at pm at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.La Verne (Bubba) Ehlers passed away at his home on Wed., Dec. He was born July 21, 1945 to Alfred and La Vonne (Ramser) Ehlers in Presho, SD.
He grew up in Presho, attended Presho High School, and then enlisted in the Army in 1963.To this union, four children were born: Ruth, Edith, Jean and Warren.As the children grew, the family moved into Murdo so they could attend school.La Verne returned to the farm in 1965 and met the love of his life, Carol Sue Halverson.Carol and La Verne were united in marriage March 15, 1969 and to this union, three children were born; Julie Sue, Jill La Vonne and Adam La Verne.Myrtle ran the local café and Alex was the deputy sheriff and operated the bar.
